i play a fender stratocaster with seymour duncan pro2 pick-ups through a fender blues/deluxe, on the fender forum i've been hearing rave reviews about an overdrive pedal called the fulltone fulldrive II, it's going to be a while before i can get to the music store that has them to try one out, just wondering if any one has one or has tried one? any other suggestions for pedals for this guitar/amp combination? what i'm thinking now is a touch of boss compressor/sustainer, a fulldrive II, a nasty bigmuff like distortion for soloing and a bbe sonic stomp.

I think my bro uses that and I have heard NOTHING but rave, rave reviews about it.
It's a botique pedal so you will have to pay for it.

Alternately, I started a distortion/overdrive thread a while back on this list.
You might go check out the options.

I, myself, after reading everything, went out and purchased the
BOSS OD-20 which has digital models of all the famous distortion/overdrive/fuzz
pedals out there (Big Muff, Pro Co Rat, Ibanez Tube Screamer, Fuzz Face, etc.
as well as ALL of the BOSS distortion and overdrive pedals made in one
large stomp box pedal (a little under $200). In addition, it allows you
to run these things through amp simlulators and lets you program
four custom presets. (not alot , but then again, who uses more than 4 different distortion settings in a set?)

In addition it as an absoltuely mindboggling sounding octave distortion setting that you can add to anything.
You can play single notes on a stratocaster and it sounds like Godzilla just stepped no Tokyo with one note.

I love it to death. Much better, IMHO, than the Line 6 Distortion modeller which I found to be pretty lame
(except in the hands of Dark Muse (I just saw her play a great set with distorted bowed cymbals sounds).

so i drove down to Alto Music today (my favorite music store) to try out the FulltoneFulldrive2 that i have been hearing so much about, this pedal is everything that i dreamed it could be, then i tried the Fulltone O.C.D. which was a little less expensive and had a little more umph to it. i got totally lost in all the tones you can get out of this little stopbox with three knobs on it....smooth creamy sustain, sparkeling touch sensitve drive, with great tonal harmonic clarity even when the drive is up to 10, and it responds great to rolling off the volume on the guitar a few degrees....at one point the hair on the back of my neck was standing on end so i figured that that was the sign that i should buy it.

what did the cheaper one set you back, out of curiosity?

Also, I'm really looking for nastiness in a distortion pedal lately (lol, I just bought a Behringer Feedback Destroyer
just so I can do really distorted things to human voice (and other instruments) without having the p.a. go crazy).

Does the Fulltone O.C.D. get very nasty or is it more of a smoother kind of guitar oriented distortion?

btw, did you try out the OD 20 out of curiosity?

yeah the od 20 is cool, love the godzilla tone.
the o.c.d. set me back $164
tone wise it starts of as an overdrive and proceeds to make your amp sound like it's cranked (for real it doesn't just simulate).
that said it is definitely guitar oriented, but i think it would be useful for more experimental applications as a kind of sonic foundation that you could run into another more massive distortion pedal. i was experimenting and put a shitty digitech overdrive in front of it (trying to use it as a lead boost volume up, gain low) and it just sapped the tone out of the signal. then i tried it after the ocd and it was pretty good. then i turned up the gain on the overdrive (which usually just kind of makes this week fizzely sound) and to my surprise it was screaming with beautiful sustain and natural harmonics.
when you turn the knobs on this thing there isn't a sweet spot....the whole thing is a sweet spot.

i just got a fulltone '69 fuzz pedal... holy sheevus! i'm just running the guitar into the O.C.D. and then into the '69 and in to my amp. it's sooo Hendixy sounding it's freaking me out... so this is what it feels like to be in tonal nirvana.

The fulltone pedals rock...I have a bass drive, choral Flange pedal-they kill-don't waste your time with other pedals!

      Wow, Joe!

your custom bass is amazing looking.

I just love the UBER, UBER CUTAWAY with all the phantom frets marked visually.

This thing must scream in the upper registers.

Can you review the FULLTONE BASS DRIVE in a separate thread if you have time.
As a matter of fact, I'll start the thread. IF you feel like it, I'd love to have a review of it.
Bass Overdrives can really be crummy.........it's a lot more difficult to distort bass successfully
than it is to distort guitars.

        Sorry-just saw this...!

Yeah, this bass kills. It's a Jerzy Drozd, and currently its the only 4 string of its kind (model).

I don't mind reviewing the Bass drive, it's pretty damn amazing and sounds better than any other bass drive I've heard!
